The Digital Media and Composition Institute (DMAC) at The Ohio State University is an 8-day online institute on the effective use of digital media in college composition classrooms. Participants will explore a range of contemporary digital literacy practices – alphabetic, visual, audio, and multimodal – and apply what they learn to the design of meaningful assignments, syllabi, curricula, or programs.

Our upcoming institute features:

· World-class faculty in the fields of digital rhetorics, literacy, and composition.

· Fully online delivery including synchronous and asynchronous presentations addressing current issues in multimodal writing research and pedagogy.

· Workshops emphasizing production in multimodal writing, curriculum development and assessment, and access and accessibility.

· A commitment to keeping DMAC affordable and accessible.

The Institute’s curriculum, presentations, and workshops will be delivered using a mix of synchronous Zoom events and asynchronous videos and modules, along with daily interactions with and support from the Institute staff and faculty. DMAC is designed to provide participants with flexibility in how they engage with the curriculum, presentations, and workshops.

DMAC Funding Opportunity: Cindy & Dickie Selfe Fellowship

If you are in need of funding to attend DMAC 2025, applications for The Cindy & Dickie Selfe Fellowship are now open! This fellowship supports diversity and inclusion in the field of digital media and composition studies. We invite applicants from historically marginalized communities, as well as educators who work with these communities. We also invite applications from scholars whose work and scholarly interests address educational and societal inequities within digital media and composition studies. Our goal is to amplify voices that are often unheard in our field and make it possible for individuals to attend DMAC who could not otherwise participate. The 2025 fellowship amount is $950 and will be applied directly to the tuition fees for the Institute. Please note that the fellowship recipients will still be required to pay the $300 registration fee.

To apply for the Cindy & Dickie Selfe DMAC Fellowship, please write a 1-2 page letter to the DMAC organizers that addresses the following questions:

· What personal and professional goals do you hope to achieve by attending DMAC and how are they related to your current work?

· How might your participation in DMAC improve the educational environment for colleagues and students at your home institution?

· How will your participation in DMAC contribute to the diversity of students, teachers, and scholars in the field of digital media and composition studies?
