Good morning colleagues!
We’re joining the deluge of CCCC 2025 related announcements with one more about the Writing Assessment SIG! We are hosting several events in Baltimore next week that we hope you’ll join us for (also see attached flyer):
- The Writing Assessment SIG Annual Meeting will be on Friday April 11th from 3:30 – 4:30 PM in Meeting Room 339 in the Baltimore Convention Center. If you’ve joined us in the past, we hope you’ll come again. If this is your first time, come hang out with a bunch of nerds interested in all kinds of writing assessment, from grading and classroom practices to placement to programmatic assessment and more.
- The WA SIG is also “sponsoring” two sessions:
- A workshop titled “Generative AI and Writing Assessment: Co-Sponsored Workshop by the Writing Assessment SIG and the MLA-CCCC AI Task Force” on Wednesday April 9th from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM in Meeting Room 337 in the Baltimore Convention Center. If you haven’t registered for the workshop, I believe there is still time!
- A roundtable titled “Retrospective: Research in Writing Assessment and the Impact of the Journal of Writing Assessment” on Saturday April 12th from 12:30 – 1:45 PM in Meeting Room 307 in the Baltimore Convention Center. Come hear from some of the great scholars of writing assessment about the contributions of the Journal of Writing Assessment to the field as well as the future of research on assessment.
We hope to see many of you at one or all of these events! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at stacy.wittstock and jburkereifman.
Looking forward to a great conference in Baltimore!
