Volunteer: Faculty Advisory Editors (FAEs) to Mentor Undergraduate Researchers for Young Scholars in Writing vol. 24

Dear Faculty and Advisors,
We invite you to apply as a Faculty Advisory Editor (FAE) for Young Scholars in Writing (YSW) vol 24, a journal dedicated to undergraduate research in writing studies. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to mentor emerging scholars as they navigate academic writing and publication.
FAE Role
As an FAE, you will serve as a mentor‑editor, guiding student authors through the revision process to ensure their work meets YSW’s publication criteria. You will provide supportive, developmental feedback and help students strengthen their research, writing, and rhetorical choices. Bilingual faculty are encouraged to apply, as we may receive multilingual submissions.
Who Should Apply
We welcome all faculty whose interests include language, communication, composition, rhetoric, or related fields, and who are eager to work one‑on‑one with student writers during summer 2026.
Tentative Schedule
May 22
• FAE instructions distributed
• Manuscript access and selection opens
• Onboarding / Editorial Team meeting dates shared
May 25–26
• FAEs review and select manuscripts
May 26–29
• FAE onboarding
• Required onboarding sessions and meetings with the Editorial Team
⚠️ FAEs must attend onboarding to move forward as mentors.
June–August
• FAEs mentor student writers through revisions to meet publication criteria and deadlines
