Survey: Writing Instructors and Mental Health

Dear Colleague,

I am a doctoral candidate in Composition and Applied Linguistics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania conducting dissertation research under the direction of Dr. Gian Pagnucci.

The United States is facing a mental health crisis, and universities are working to understand how best to serve students in this climate. There are many faculty who also face mental health challenges, and finding effective ways to support these teachers is equally important. This study aims to gather information about teachers’ struggles and how universities might best assist them, so that they can teach to the best of their abilities.

I am seeking college writing instructors to participate in this study. Having you participate will greatly assist me in exploring this important topic.

Participation involves completing an online survey that takes approximately 5 – 10 minutes. At the end of the survey, participants will have the option to indicate interest in a follow-up interview. Interview participants will receive a $25 electronic gift card as a thank you for their time.

If you are interested in participating, please review the informed consent information and access the survey using the link below:

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best,
