Dear Colleagues,
The WAC Clearinghouse seeks applications to join the editorial team of the Precarity and Contingency book series as a co-editor. Books in the series examine precarious academic labor. While the focus is primarily on academic labor in higher education, it encourages projects that connect to other labor issues on campuses (including K-12) and/or precarity in labor sectors outside education. The series embraces new visions of and innovations in leadership in the academic environment that might more effectively address current labor crises. It also encourages projects that explore intersections of academic labor activism with other forms of activism, such as LGBTQ+, gender, race equality, ability/disability activism, and environmentalism, among others. Originally conceived as a labor studies series not necessarily anchored in writing studies, the series supports work either within or outside the discipline.
The successful candidate will join a collegial team of editors who meet occasionally to discuss submissions and reviews of book proposals and manuscripts, as well as to discuss the direction of the series. Each project also has one member of the team overseeing it: serving as the primary point of contact for authors and reviewers; soliciting and scheduling reviews; updating the Associate Publishers and Publisher on the project’s status as necessary.
Like all other positions with the WAC Clearinghouse, this position is voluntary and unpaid. The expected term is three years and may be renewed.
