As community-engaged scholars, our communities are central to our work—but how do we navigate that commitment while on the academic job market? And how do we hold that commitment while searching for positions beyond academia?
Join us for this CCW workshop, which will explore the tensions and possibilities of pursuing academic and alt-ac careers while sustaining meaningful community-engaged work. Through a series of lightning talks, faculty and professionals working across different career paths—including contingent faculty, tenure-track faculty, and nonprofit professionals—will share strategies, lessons learned, and practical advice for navigating the realities of today’s academic job market without leaving community engagement behind. Our conversation will also consider how our commitments to communities might affect our approaches to the job search.
