I’m pleased to share a new crowdsourcing initiative from the WAC Clearinghouse Repository: Materials from Post-4Cs Ideation Sessions: Making Sense of Rhetoric, Composition, and Writing Studies in 2026 and Beyond.
In the weeks following NCTE’s July 24 decision to de-charter CCCC, writing studies scholars across the country have been gathering in regional groups to talk together about what our field needs now—and what kinds of organizations, communities, and structures might support rhetoric, composition, and writing studies moving forward.
This new crowdsourcing initiative is designed to collect and share materials from those conversations, creating a public archive that can help groups learn from one another, identify points of convergence and difference, and build on work already underway:

We’re excited to share the first two contributions, one from the Colorado Front Range Ideation Session, held August 14 at the Colorado School of Mines and led by Douglas Hesse and Heather Fester, and another from the West Coast Session 1, held August 24, 2026, on Zoom and organized by Jennifer Burke Reifman (San Diego State University), Angela Clark-Oates (Sacramento State University), Kristi Prins (Cal Poly Pomona), Lisa Tremain (Cal Poly Humboldt), and Kathryn Tucker (University of Redlands), Olivia McMurray (UC Davis), Sasha Osorio (UC Davis), Casey Manogue (UC Davis), Ana Castellon (UC Davis), Paul Gibbons (UC Merced), Angela M Laflen (Sacramento State University), Joy Ok (UC Davis), Kathryn Drake (Scripps College).
And this is very much intended to grow. If you’ve helped organize a regional or other post-4Cs ideation session, we invite you to contribute your group’s materials to the collection. Information about submitting materials is available on the main project page.
