We’ve just posted a call for applications for a one-year Writing and Speaking Center Coordinator at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. Our Center has a wonderful professional and student staff, and the Coordinator will work closely with our Interim Director of the Writing and Speaking Center, contributing to and shaping vibrant writing and speaking cultures in the Center. Among their responsibilities will be conducting one-on-one appointments with clients, training and mentoring our peer tutor staff, and managing the day-to-day operations of the Writing and Speaking Center.
This would be a wonderful position for a recent undergraduate who has worked in a writing and/or speaking center or a student support center, or for a recent Masters-level graduate. A Bachelor’s degree and experience in a writing center or speaking center (or their equivalent) is required, and a Master’s degree and experience with multilingual writers and/or speakers is preferred. The position will remain open until filled, but we will begin reviewing applications with a priority deadline of this coming Monday, August 14.
This is a full-time, non-renewable position for Academic Year 2023-24 and will end no later than June 30, 2024. The job posting is here. It is a really exciting moment at Colgate: we are launching the equivalent of a writing across the curriculum program, and I have moved from my role as Director of the Writing and Speaking Center to become Director of University Writing. The one-year Coordinator position will help us as we transition into a new permanent staffing configuration. Watch for another job posting from us soon.
