Job: Learning Specialist in Peer Education at Rice University

Dear colleagues,

The Office of Academic Support for Undergraduate Students (OASUS) at Rice University is hiring a Learning Specialist in Peer Education. OASUS is a learning center that provides professional and peer-led learning assistance and equitable assessment opportunities to undergraduate students. This position prepares students as disciplinary-based tutors, consultants, and teaching assistants through pedagogical and professional learning opportunities that are open to student educators across campus.

I’ll note that this learning center is separate from my own center, the Center for Academic and Professional Communication (CAPC), which provides written, oral, and visual communication tutoring and support (i.e., the university-wide multimodal writing center). However, we are close programming partners, and the Director of OASUS is a former faculty member of our first-year writing program. In my experience, writing center trained folks are well-suited to peer education programming roles more broadly.

Many thanks,
Jacob
