News: New Rhetoric of Health and Medicine Co-Editor

Hi Everyone,

The Rhetoric of Health and Medicine journal is excited to announce that Dr. Lora Anderson will be joining Dr. Fernando Sánchez as the co-editor of the journal beginning in August of 2026.

Dr. Anderson is a professor of English at the University of Cincinnati whose research focuses on the phenomenology of the lived body and issues of identity and agency in the rhetoric of health and medicine, particularly in chronic illness and end-of-life practices. For example, in Living Chronic: Agency and Expertise in the Rhetoric of Diabetes (2017), she examines how people with chronic illness generate expertise, make decisions, navigate healthcare systems, and negotiate the experience of chronicity.

We want to thank Dr. Kim Hensley Owens, who is rotating off RHM as co-editor, for all of her service to the journal throughout the last five years.

Warmly,

Annika
