Writing Center Colleagues:
IWCA is pleased to announce that nominations for the 2025 Outstanding Article and Outstanding Book Awards, as well as applications for the Future Leaders Awards, are now being accepted. Deadline for Outstanding Book and Outstanding Article is September 4, and for Future Leaders applications the deadline is October 1 (note revised deadline). See below for more information and links to nominations/application forms.
Additionally, we at IWCA extend a hearty thank you to this year’s Awards Committee co-chairs Faith Thompson (fsears1) and Grace Pregent (pregentg) for taking on stewardship of this committee. Grace and Faith wanted us to encourage IWCA members and folks working in the writing center community across global contexts to connect with them if they’re interested in serving on one of the three Awards sub-committees. Multilingual IWCA members are especially encouraged to connect with Faith and Grace, as we expect nominations of books and articles written in multiple languages.
Each year at its annual conference, IWCA presents awards in three categories:
Outstanding Article Award. Nominated articles may be single-authored or collaboratively-authored works, by scholars at any stage of their academic careers, published in print or in digital form, in any language. Nominations must have been published between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Self-nominations are not accepted. Visit IWCA’s website for full details, and submit nominations here. Deadline: September 4, 2026.
Outstanding Book Award. Nominations of books or major works that engage writing center theory, practice, research, and history, written in any language, and published between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, will be accepted. Self-nominations are not accepted. Visit IWCA’s website for full details, and submit nominations here. Deadline: September 4, 2026.
Future Leaders Awards. Applications for Future Leaders may be submitted by undergraduates or graduate students who demonstrate strong leadership skills and interest in writing center studies. Applicants must be undergraduates or graduate students and must be a current IWCA member in good standing. Visit IWCA’s website for full details, and submit applications here. Revised deadline: October 1, 2026.
Questions can be sent to 2025 Awards Co-Chairs Grace Pregent (pregentg) and Faith Thompson (fsears1).
Sincerely,
Chris Ervin
