Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Senior Editors of Computers and Composition Digital Press, I am excited to announce our latest title, Sonic Abundance, edited by Crystal VanKooten and Harley Ferris.
Sonic Abundance is a book as a podcast series that celebrates soundwriting in Rhetoric and Composition, as well as Cynthia Selfe’s 2009 article "The Movement of Air, the Breath of Meaning: Aurality and Multimodal Composition" published in College Composition and Communication. Through these eight episodes, the contributors turn their attention (and their voices) back to Selfe’s article on its fifteen-year anniversary, as well as forward to its legacy and the future of sound scholarship in rhetoric and writing, demonstrating and sharing various soundwriting projects that speak with and in response to Selfe. The episodes draw from the abundance of sound studies work to celebrate ways the subfield of soundwriting has increased the bandwidth of possibility for students, faculty, and researchers in composition.
You can listen to Sonic Abundance on your favorite podcast app or on our website, where we also have complete transcripts of the episodes. Access all versions of the book here: https://ccdigitalpress.org/sonic-abundance
As always, Computers and Composition Digital Press titles are open access.
Best,
